Chole Bhature Recipe is the famous dish of Northern India, especially Punjab. Nowadays, many restaurants and Dhabas are serving this hot dish but everyone has their way of cooking. Its taste may differ from one restaurant to others.

This famous street food is easy to cook. Generally, we often cook chickpeas at our home and Bhaturas are very simple to cook. Chickpeas curry depends upon the preference from individual to individual. Some prefer to have dried whereas some love the thick or semi-dry curry.

Chole Recipe –

Ingredients:

  • Chickpeas – 2 Cup
  • Tea Bag – 1 (or 3/4 tablespoon tea)
  • Cardamom – 2-3
  • Cloves – 3-4
  • Cinnamon – 1 piece
  • Chole Masala – 1 Tablespoon
  • Salt – 1 Tablespoon (according to the taste)
  • Oil – 2 Tablespoon
  • Baking Soda – ½ Tablespoon
  • Cumin Seeds – ¼ Tablespoon
  • Asafoetida – 2 Pinch
  • Onion – 1, finely chopped
  • Tomato – 2 (make a puree of it)
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ Tablespoon
  • Red chilli powder – ½ Tablespoon

Preparation:

✅ Soak the chickpeas overnight.

✅ Take the pressure cooker; add chickpeas and 3 cups of water to it.

✅ Take a clean piece of cloth; add cardamom, cloves, cinnamon and tea bag or else ¾ tablespoon of tea to it.

✅ Tie it tightly, make a bundle of it, and add to the chickpeas.

✅ Also, add ½ tablespoon of baking soda to it.

✅ Boil the chickpeas for 7-10 minutes.

✅ After 1 whistle, keep the flame low and allow it to cook on low flame.

✅ After 7-10 minutes, turn off the gas, allow the pressure to release and check the chickpeas whether they become soft or not.

✅ If they are still hard, you can cook for the next 5 minutes else start preparing the chickpeas.

✅ Take a pan, heat it and add 2 tablespoon oil into it. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida.

✅ Now add onions and stir till they turn golden brown.

✅ Add tomato puree, and add chana masala, turmeric powder, and red chilli powder. Cook it well.

✅ Add boiled chickpeas and salt, mix it well. Simmer it for 15 – 20 minutes.

✅ Adjust the curry according to your desire, if you want to have thick, then simmer for 25 – 30 minutes, if it is dry then add water to it.

Chole Bhature Recipe –

Ingredients:

  • White Flour/Maida – 2 Cup
  • Curd – 2 tablespoon
  • Salt – ½ Tablespoon
  • Eno/Baking powder – ½ tablespoon
  • Sugar – ½ Tablespoon

Chole Bhature Preparation:

✅ Prepare the dough for bhature, take maida in a bowl.

✅ Add curd, salt, sugar, and baking powder.

✅ Knead soft dough of it.

✅ Once the dough is ready, take oil in your palm and put a little amount of oil on the dough.

✅ Keep it aside for 2 hours.

✅ Take a pan, put oil and allow it to heat.

✅ Make the equal portion of roll out of dough.

✅ Roll it in the desired shape, round or oval.

✅ Very softly put the bhatura in the pan and fry it from both sides.

✅ Now Chole bhature is ready to serve.

✅ Serve it with raw onion, radish, and green chutney.

Note:

  • Always keep aside the dough for at least 2 hours.
  • Put the roll Bhatura in very hot oil, cook similarly as poori.
  • You can use the spices according to your taste. But don’t use a large quantity of cardamom, cloves and cinnamon, but you can add ginger garlic paste here.
