Aloo Gobi Recipe: It is a spicy dish made of potatoes and cauliflower. It is one of the major staple dishes in India and one of the simplest recipes to make at home. For vegetarian people, it is quite a spicy delicious recipe to try out.

There are so many ways of making it which includes different ingredients other than potato and cauliflower. If you have a limited ingredient you can always modify this dish according to your inventory.
Sometimes when we cook this item the cauliflower gets a bit soggy and that is not desirable. To avoid that problem you can follow some steps:
✅ You should cook the Cauliflower and the potatoes halfway before adding the other ingredients like onion and tomato. The water released from tomato makes the cauliflower soggy sometimes.
✅ The whole cooking should be done in low flame and also you should not cover while cooking cauliflower at all.
✅ It is better to add the salt when the dish is ready because salt tends to make cauliflower soggy.
Aloo Gobi Recipe Ingredients
The major ingredients in this dish are:
- 2 big slices of potatoes
- 1 medium-sized cauliflower cut into florets
- 1 medium-sized chopped onion
- 2 medium-sized chopped tomatoes
- Half a teaspoon of cumin seeds
- 1.5 teaspoons of ginger and garlic paste
- Half a teaspoon of mango powder
- Half a teaspoon of turmeric powder
- Pinch of red chilli powder
- Pinch of garam masala
- 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
- 3-4 teaspoons of oil
- Salt to taste
Aloo Gobi Recipe Preparing Method
✅ At first, you need to take some oil in a pan and fry the cauliflower in medium heat. Before that, you need to cut them in florets and after some time you can add some sliced potatoes too.
✅ Then you can fry the whole thing in a low flame for around 8 minutes until both of the ingredients become a bit brownish.
✅ Now you have to strain the ingredients by a tissue paper and keep them aside.
✅ In the next part of the method, you have to take some oil in a pan and add some cumin seeds to crackle in medium heat.
✅ Then you have to add the chopped onions and fry them until it becomes translucent. Then you need to add the ginger and garlic paste.
✅ When the smell of garlic and raw ginger goes away you need to add the tomatoes. Now you need to cook it until it becomes soft.
✅ When they become soft you need to add all the spices along with some mango powder and cover it to cook for around 3 minutes.
✅ After that, you need to add the Cauliflower and potatoes and mix them properly.
✅ Then you can add some coriander leaves and some Garam Masala and cook them in low heat for around 6 minutes.
✅ Finally, you need to add the salt but you should always remember that the cauliflower should not get soggy. In the meantime, if you see the masala is going to stick on the pan then you can always add water but in a very low amount.
And now your Aloo Gobi is ready to serve with paratha, roti or whatever you want.
