What is a lemon drop shot?

A lemon drop shot is a twist on the classic lemon drop cocktail named after the lemon drop candy. The lemon drop cocktail was invented in the 1970s in San Francisco by Norman Jay Hobday. This cocktail gained popularity around 2006 after being featured on the Oprah Winfrey show.

The original lemon drop shot recipe

The original lemon drop shot recipe perfectly combines sweet and sour and bursts with lemony deliciousness.

Ingredients:

  • Chilled vodka 1 oz
  • Simple syrup 0.5 oz
  • Fresh lemon juice 0.5 oz
  • Ice cubes 3
  • Lemon wedge for garnish
  • Sugar 1 tbsp

Equipment needed:

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Cocktail strainer
  • Shot glass
  • Small shallow plate

Directions:

  1. Pour the sugar onto a small plate. Now rub a lemon wedge over the rim of the shot glass and dip it into the sugar.
  2. Place the glass at a 45 degrees angle to the plate, roll it until the shot glass has a sugar rim, and set it aside.
  3. Now take a cocktail shaker and add the ice cubes.
  4. Pour the vodka, simple syrup, and lemon juice into the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.

Directions:

  1. Line the rim of the glass with the corn syrup,
  2. Place the sugar onto a small plate and dip the rim of the shot glass into the sugar.
  3. Roll the glass at a 45 degrees angle to the plate, roll it until the shot glass has a sugar rim, and set it aside.
  4. Now take a cocktail shaker and add the ice cubes.
