  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Keep the heat low as butter burns easily.
  2. Add the onions when the butter has completely melted.
  3. Add the salt and pepper and keep stirring the onions around for a bit till they turn soft.
  4. Now add the beer and raise the heat a little for the onions to cook further.
  5. Once the liquid has reduced slightly, take it off the gas and leave it to cool on the kitchen counter. You may also cover and store this mixture in the kitchen.
