Veg Momos Recipe: Momos are among the famous street food; this is the special recipe of Tibet, Nepal, and North East India. You can make momos with a variety of stuffing like chicken, mutton, cottage cheese, and veggies.

In this blog, I am going to share the vegetable stuffing recipe that is easy and savoury. The recipe is famous among kids and the young generation. The evening snack is served with red chilli chutney and white sauce.

Here’s the complete recipe of How to Make Steamed Vegetable Momos at Home

Ingredients: For Dough

  • Maida – 1 Cup
  • Salt – ½ Tablespoon
  • Oil –  1 Tablespoon

Ingredients: For Stuffing

  • Cabbage – 100 Grams (Grated)
  • Green chilli – 2, chopped
  • Carrot – ½ grated
  • Garlic cloves – 4, grated
  • Onion – ½, finely chopped
  • Spring onion – 1/3 cup
  • Black Pepper – 1/3 Tablespoon
  • Soy Sauce – 1 Tablespoon
  • Oil – 1 Tablespoon
  • Salt – ½ Tablespoon

Veg Momos Recipe Preparation:

  • First, prepare the dough. Take a bowl to add maida, oil, and salt. mix well.
  • Knead the dough, add a small quantity of water and prepare bit hard dough.
  • Keep it aside for 20 minutes, till then prepare the stuffing.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil in the pan; add grated ginger and red chilli. Cook it for 30 seconds.
  • Add onions and sauté for 30 seconds.

Note: Do not cook any vegetables for long, roast only for a few seconds so that raw taste can be removed.

  • Add carrots and cabbage, mix well. Again cook it for ½ minute.

Note: Keep the flame medium while cooking.

  • Add spring onion and turn off the gas. Do not cook the spring onions.
  • Allow it to cool.
  • Once the mixture becomes cool, add salt.

Note: Not much salt is required as the soy sauce and dough also contain salt.

Note: Do not add salt to the mixture while cooking, it may turn moist, which can create the problem at the time of stuffing.

  • Add black pepper, one small spoon soy sauce, and mix well.
  • Take the streamer or any vessel. Add 2-3 cup water and boil it.
  • Now, again knead the dough to make it smooth.
  • Take dry maida and water to seal the momos.
  • Make a small roll, dust it and make small poori with the help of a rolling pin.

Note: The centre of the poori should not be very thick.

  • Put 1 and a half spoon stuffing, in centre of the poori.
  • Apply water on all the edges, and start to fold them.
  • Make one plate and seal it, make another plate, and stick to the first one. Like this, make the small dumpling.
  • Repeat the process and make all the momos.
  • Take the steaming tin and grease it. Now place momos. Mind the Gap while placing them.

Note: Leave some gap in between them otherwise they may stick together.

  • Steam it for 10 minutes.
  • The momos are ready to serve. Serve it with red chilli chutney and white sauce.

Preparation of Veg Momos Red Chilli Chutney:

  • Take 20 – 25 red chilli. Boil it for 10 – 15 minutes.
  • Allow it to cool. Add red chilli and water in the grinder jar, add salt and water.
  • Make a fine paste and the chutney is ready.

Preparation of White Sauce:

Ingredients:

  • Potato – 1 medium size, boiled
  • Cream – ¼ Cup
  • Milk – 1 Cup
  • Salt – ½ Tablespoon

Veg Momos White Sauce Preparation:

  • Crumble the potato; put it in the grinder jar along with the ¼ cup cream and 1 cup milk.
  • Churn it, till the potatoes dissolve completely.
  • Add ½ tablespoon salt and grin again, till it converts into a fine paste.
  • Add milk according to the consistency. If it is thick, add more milk and grind again.
  • White sauce is ready.

Serve red chilli chutney and white sauce with the momos.
